Barack Obama, born in Hawaii on August 4th 1961 is the son of Barack Obama Sr. and Anne Dunham. His father, a native of Kenya had travelled to Hawaii on a scholarship where he met Anne Dunham.Eventually he returned to Kenya and Anne raised Barack in Hawaii and for a time in Indonesia. Barack moved to New York and graduated from Columbia University in 1983. Later in 1991, he graduated from Harvard Law School. In between he worked in Chicago with a church-based group trying to improve living conditions in poor crime ridden neighborhoods. After law school he returned as a civil rights lawyer and teacher of constituional law. After serving in the Illinois State Senate Barack was elected to the US Senate in 2004.
